2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. |

12 - We should live soberly Soberly is from nephalios which we see from 1pe0113 as abstinence from alcoholic wine. The importance of good health is more than happy living 1co1031. It is preparation for the return of Christ as we see here. 13 - Blessed Here means "happy." 13 - Blessed hope The word "hope" is more an expectation or anticipation than a wish. This text doesn't seem to fit into the rapture idea which teaches anticipation for the rapture, more than for the "glorious appearing." Paul includes himself in those looking for the glorious appearing v12. Shouldn't the raptured ones mt2437ff (and the dead r14r2) have already been with Christ – redeemed – when He comes in glory?
