"Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." (Matthew 6:8)
I know personally of an elderly woman who lived alone on the 3rd floor of an apartment building in a large city in the southern U.S. She had very little money and was in desperate need of groceries. Even though she could not buy any food, she decided to sit down and write up a list of the items she needed.
Just as she finished her list, there was a knock at the door. She opened the door to find a young man, dressed in a white jumpsuit, white hat and white shoes holding several bags of groceries. "Here are the groceries you ordered," he said to her. The woman replied, "Young man, there must be some mistake, I did not order any groceries." "Oh yes you did," he replied confidently. And began carrying the bags inside.
After he left, the woman went to the window overlooking the front entrance of the apartment building and watched for several minutes. She never saw the man come out. Somewhat taken back, she went into the kitchen and starting taking the groceries out of the bags. As she was taking the items out, she began to notice that everything she had written down on her list was in the sacks, and the brand she used as well!
Jesus told us that our Father knows what we need before we ask Him. Whatever need you may have today, I know that our God can meet your need, even if He has to send an angel to do it. "Consider the lilies of the field," Jesus said. "If God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?" Jesus instructed us to not worry about what we are going to eat, what we are going to drink, what we are going to wear, for our Heavenly Father knows that we have need of these things. Don't worry about tomorrow. There is enough trouble for today to be sufficient. "But, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthews 6:33).
Our part is to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. If we do our part, you can be assured God will do His part. Great is His faithfulness!
Lord, the cares of life can weigh us down so, and choke the word in us. This is why You don't want us to worry, but to trust You to supply our needs. You are faithful and will do what You have promised!
